Take Action: Submit Public Comment – Protect Public Health Near Oil Production

In-person public workshops were initially held in February to shape new rules that better protect health and the environment near oil production. (Several Fearless Grandmothers commented at the workshop held in Santa Maria.) The Coronavirus outbreak halted the planned 10-stop tour after four workshops.
You still have time (until June 10) to make your comment part of the public record. There are many ways to comment listed below:
The Department of Conservation’s California Geologic Energy Management Division (CalGEM) is announcing three public workshops that will be conducted digitally to ensure social distancing. In addition, other options to submit comments through the extended deadline of June 10, 2020 are detailed below and on the web at: https://www.conservation.ca.gov/publichealth.
ONLINE VIRTUAL MEETINGS
These digital community events will begin with a brief introduction followed by the opportunity for public participants to have two minutes to express their comments on the proposed rulemaking. The workshops will be recorded. Participants either can call in to the event or join an online conference. Note: The May 20 meeting is primarily for the Los Angeles region. The other two meetings are intended for a statewide audience.
