Sept 21 – Join Fearless Grandmothers for SUN Day!

On Sunday, September 21 from 1:00 to 4:30pm in the Santa Barbara Public Library Plaza, 40 E. Anapamu Street, look for the Fearless Grandmothers booth. As part of our local SUN Day celebration, we will be hosting a family sing along at 1:00pm with a lot of great SUN-themed songs. After the sing along, kids can enjoy crafts activities all afternoon.

Also on the Library Plaza you will find booths from many community organizations celebrating the power of renewable energy. Want to learn about induction stoves? The public library has portable induction single-burner cooktops that you can borrow for a test run.

On the lower plaza (between the library and the art museum) check out the F-150 Lightening truck powering the  sound system in the big tent. In the tent, you can learn about renewable energy projects in our region, and ways you bring more SUN power into your life. (See schedule of speakers.) Be part of the amazing transformation to clean, safe energy sources that’s happening worldwide!

To learn more about what good news this energy shift is for our health and our climate, not to mention world peace, here’s a great video of Chris Hayes talking with Bill McKibben, author of the recently published book, Here Comes the Sun.

According to McKibben, “Energy from the sun and wind is suddenly the cheapest power on the planet and growing faster than any energy source in history—if we can keep accelerating the pace, we have a chance.”
