On Friday April 8, 2022, Fearless Grandmothers are joining youth from UCSB’s Environmental Affairs Board and Sunrise Santa Barbara for a rally at 12:00PM at the Santa Barbara County Administration Building, 105 E. Anapamu St.
The Santa Barbara climate rally is just one of many rallies taking place tomorrow in cities across California to put pressure on Governor Newsom to stop permitting new fossil fuel projects and to end drilling in residential neighborhoods.
The most recent IPCC report, issued just this week, makes clear that fossil fuels must be phased out now to have any hope of preserving a livable climate. As United Nations Secretary General, António Gutteres said this week,
“Climate activists are sometimes depicted as dangerous radicals.
But the truly dangerous radicals are the countries that are increasing the production of fossil fuels.
Investing in new fossil fuels infrastructure is moral and economic madness.”
