Tell SB County Supervisors “No Exxon Trucking!”

Here is a letter to the editor in the SB Independent from a Fearless Grandmother:

Thank you for your comprehensive January 20 feature on the major carbon-generating activities in Santa Barbara County. They are not dead yet, but residents here can assist in their demise by speaking up. The next opportunity is very soon — the Board of Supervisors hearing mentioned in the ExxonMobil piece will be in March. We can support the Board to follow the recommendation of its Planning Commission in denying the request to permit oil tankers up Highway 101 and over Highway 166 to Kern County on a near-daily basis.

If you oppose ExxonMobil’s proposal to truck oil over our freeways at the rate of 70 trucks a day for the next seven years, let your Santa Barbara County Supervisor know what you think. If you don’t know who your representative is, here is a link to a district map, plus email and contact information for each supervisor.

The Supervisors will make a decision at a hearing in the next month or so. The date of the hearing has not been set. To learn how you can participate, here is a link to information on the hearing process
