Nov. 5 – Sunset Climate Strike on the Beach

On Friday, November 5 at 5pm, we will gather at Campus Point Beach at UCSB for a Sunset Climate Strike. The UCSB Environmental Affairs Board, Sunrise Movement SB, SBCAN, the Society of Fearless Grandmothers SB and 350SB are cosponsoring this action.

We will be taking an awesome group photo at twilight with our beautiful ocean as a backdrop. Please bring your cell phone and/or flashlight. Our message will go out to leaders–many attending the COP26 climate conference in Glasgow, Scotland–to remind them that it is now “CODE RED for humanity,” as Antonio Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations said recently.

The sun is setting on climate action. COP26, currently underway in Glasgow, represents humanity’s last chance to collectively limit global overheating and protect the climate that supports life.

Friday’s action is a chance for us, young and old, to affirm life and our resolve to act now to preserve the environment for the next seven generations.
