Another Climate Win in Santa Barbara

On January 12, 2021 the Santa Barbara City Council voted unanimously in favor of an Energy Code Amendment that would require new buildings to be built all-electric instead of also using natural gas. The Fearless Grandmothers were one of many local organizations and businesses that signed this letter urging the City leaders to take this action to protect the climate.

“Santa Barbara is the second major Central Coast city to consider mandating all-electric construction for new buildings. In June 2020, the San Luis Obispo City Council unanimously passed a new energy framework supporting all-electric new buildings.” More information here.
